The most important part of therapy is trust and feeling understood. Young people are often hesitant to talk to someone about the things they are struggling with. This makes having a therapist who is able to work with hesitation, nerves, and anxiety about therapy itself critical to the process of helping young people.

I specialize in providing therapy for children, teens, and young adults who are struggling with school, relationships, and life transitions. During the crucial early years of life it is important that children and teens are given the right support to deal with difficulties impacting their school performance, mood, and communication with parents. I believe that a combination of skills-based learning for children, adolescents and teens in addition to guidance and support for parents is critical in helping young people overcome challenges and get back to feeling like themselves. My integrative approach combines skill-based approaches to problems solving in combination with developmentally-focused knowledge around emotional processing and coping.

I provide therapy for young people in a variety of contexts and have years of experience integrating family into therapy when appropriate. My experiences include treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) in children, teens, and adults. With these experiences comes a knowledge of human development and awareness of the importance of issues related to gender identity and expression, identity development, school difficulty, self-harm, suicide risk assessment, and communication in relationships.

I take a collaborative approach in my interactions with parents to support children, teens, and young adults struggling with anxiety and depression. Due to my ongoing doctoral training I am able to incorporate advanced and powerful assessment techniques to help young people and their parents to understand their difficulties in helpful new ways.

I understand how hard it can be to find the right therapist for your child, teen, or college student. When getting started, I speak with parents directly before beginning to work with their child. I feel maintaining an open line of communication between myself and parents is an important part of the progress of children in therapy and I work to keep parents aware of their child’s well-being while also abiding by all confidentiality standards.

In addition to my specialization in young adults, I also offer support to couples looking to learn communication, conflict resolution, and build a loving connection. I have experience in working with couples of varying ages, marital statuses, and sexual orientations. My approach to couples counseling is to use a combination of practical, skill-based communication practices while also integrating partner’s unique histories into my understanding of the couple and the pitfalls the couple runs into. I am also capable of integrating assessment services into couples therapy in order to build empathy in the relationship, understand communication patterns, and help couples learn to solve problems and communicate more effectively.

As a Licensed Social Worker, my areas of focus include:
Teen Therapy | Support for parents | Anxiety issues for teens and adults | childhood trauma | Emerging Adulthood | Depression | Couples Counseling

If you’re ready to get started, I always offer a 15-min consult to see if we are a good fit. I’d love to help you or a member of your family get the help they need to live better.
